My name is Rob Esene and I am an editor. No, not movies, words—I edit words. I do copyediting and proofreading, and I also focus on developmental or content editing, helping authors, mostly fiction writers, work through problems in their manuscripts. Most problems are related to story.

I will check your fiction to make sure that your ground story works, your plot is strong, you create an engaging atmosphere and you fully develop your characters. And while you focus on those aspects of your work, I will make sure your story remains well-paced and interesting.

The best thing that I can do for your writing is advocate for your future reader. I find that a problem most writers have is that their story and their characters’ motivations are clear in their heads but never actually make it onto the page.

I have done quite a bit writing myself and taken several workshops. And the one thing that I have learned is that in fiction, almost every problem, almost every time, can be fixed.
